There are “no plans” for another Delhi lockdown, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted today, rejecting speculation alongside a spurt in coronavirus cases in the capital.
Delhi has more than 41,000 COVID-19 cases and is in the third with most cases in the country. There have been over 1,300 deaths in the city.
Mr. Kejriwal put out the clarification shortly after an all-party meeting called by Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the virus strategy for Delhi and its neighboring areas.
“Many people are speculating of another lockdown in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that there are no such plans to increase lockdown.
A lot of messages were going viral on social media that lockdown will extend from 18th June. In the meeting, CM has said lockdown is not the solution. Delhi witnessed a growth of 2,224 cases in the last 24 hours with 56 deaths taking the total number of fatalities in the national capital to 1,327.
