New Delhi: Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and others who also join the campaign are demanding postponement of JEE Main, NEET. And also demanding other exams cancel due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The students are also demanding to cancellation of a third-year examination. On June 22, in three hours, #No Exams in COVID – a Twitter storm initiated by students’ body NUSI has garnered more than 2 lakh impression.
Some left exams such as board exams, the engineering entrance exams Jee Main, the medical entrance test NEET, and also other tests are scheduled to be held next month (July). As different universities over the country have announced plans for directing exams in upcoming weeks.
NUSI said in a statement released after #NoExamsInCovid garnered support. In India, the coronavirus cases increasing speedily. So, it would be very difficult for the students to still appear for their examination.
“WHO warns world once again about the drastic increase of COVID-19 cases and India also faces the same, isn’t the decision of conduction of exams completely inhuman and unsympathetic! Who will be responsible if students get affected during the examination?” the students’ body asked in a tweet.
At last, the Education Ministry sources have said that – “The situation doesn’t seem conducive to hold remaining board examination. And also competitive tests for engineering and medical colleges. The safety of students is very necessary because COVID-19 cases are increasing day-by-day in our country.” Therefore some exams cancel due to COVID-19 and also competitive exams such as NEET and JEE are postponed.
